To probe the role of xanthophylls in non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) and the compensatory acclimated photoprotection mechanisms, a tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. cv. Ailsa Craig) Xa mutant with deficit in lutein (L) and neoxanthin (N) contents was used. The Xa mutant showed lowered NPQ, an increased degree of de-epoxidation state [(A+Z)/(V+A+Z)], and decreases of photosystem 2 (PS2) antenna size. Although the Xa mutant had a CO2 assimilation rate similar to that of Ailsa Craig, it exhibited a much larger stomatal conductance (gs) than Ailsa Craig. Decreased electron flux in PS2 (J PS2) for the Xa mutant was associated with electron flux for photorespiratory carbon oxidation (Jo) and alternative electron flux in PS2 (Ja) while electron flux for photosynthetic carbon reduction (Jc) was not different from Ailsa Craig. Moreover, the Xa mutant also exhibited higher activities of antioxidant enzymes, higher contents of ascorbate and glutathione, and lower contents of reactive oxygen species. Hence some compensatory acclimated mechanisms of photoprotection operated properly in the lack of NPQ and xanthophylls. and Y. J. Wang ... [et al.].
Gas exchanges and related leaf traits of three co-occurring species of genus Cypripedium (C. yunnanense Franch., C. guttatum SW., and C. flavum P.F. Hunt et Summerch.) were investigated in a scrubland at 3 460 m a.s.l. in the Hengduan Mountains. The considered species had similar photosynthetic responses to photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) and air temperature. The photosynthetic capacity (Pmax), carboxylation efficiency (CE), apparent quantum efficiency (AQE), PPFD-saturated rate of electron transport (Jmax), respiration rate (RD), and leaf nitrogen content per unit area (LNC) of C. guttatum were higher than those of C. yunnanense and C. flavum. The highest Pmax of C. guttatum was related to the highest LNC and the lowest ratio of intercellular CO2 concentration to atmospheric CO2 concentration (Ci/Ca). However, no significant differences in stomatal conductance (gs) and relative stomatal limitations (RSL) were observed among the three species. Hence biochemical limitation had a dominant role in
Pmax differences among the considered species. and S. B. Zhang ... [et al.].
Cadmium (Cd) treatments caused an inhibition in the net photosynthetic rate (PN) of peanut (Arachis hypogaea) plants, due to the reduction of stomatal conductance (gs) and photosynthetic pigment contents, as well as the alteration in leaf structure. The decrease of the transpiration rate and gs might result from the Cd-induced xerophyte anatomic features of leaves (i.e. thick lamina, upper epidermis, palisade mesophyll, high palisade to spongy thickness ratio, as well as abundant and small stomata). The decline of PN was independent of the impairment in photosystem 2. and G. R. Shi, Q. S. Cai.
Autori sa v príspevku venujú problematike dvoch významných princípov uplatňovaných pri výstavbe systému orgánov štátnej správy v procese reformy miestnej štátnej správy, ktorá v Slovenskej republike v súčasnosti prebieha. Ide o princíp územný a princíp rezortný. Autori pritom neopomínajú ani ďalšie princípy výstavby organizačnej základne štátnej správy,predovšetkým princíp koncentrácie, ktorý je v procese spomenutej reformy obzvlášť badateľný. Jadrom príspevku je konfrontácia teoretickej podstaty oboch diskutovaných princípov s charakteristickými črtami reformy miestnej štátnej správy na Slovensku. and Authors deal in their article with two substantial principles applied in construction the system of state administration bodies in process of reforming the local state administration, which is actually in Slovak Republic in progress. The territorial principle and the departmental principle are concerned.Authors do not leave out of consideration other principles applied in construction the system of state administration bodies, mainly concentration principle, which in process of the above mentioned reform appears to be especially marked. Core of the article is constituted by confrontation between theoretical substance of both discussed principles and characteristic features of reform in local state administration in Slovak Republic.
