Kniha představuje Husovy myšlenky o posledních věcech tak, jak nám je dnes zprostředkovává jeho dílo a jeho život, které tvoří nerozlučný celek. Vychází z obsahového, jazykového a literárněhistorického rozboru Husových vybraných, zejména latinských kázání a korespondence. Zohledňuje však také další jeho díla i tvorbu jiných, pro tuto problematiku relevantních autorů – především Milíče z Kroměříže, Matěje z Janova a Johna Wyclifa. Představuje tak Husovu eschatologii v širším, především reformačním kontextu. ,The book presents Hus's views on the last things in the way the indivisible whole of his work and life teaches us. It draws on a content, linguistic, and literary-historical analysis of Hus's selected works, especially his Latin sermons and his correspondence. Moreover, it takes into account his other works as well as the production of other relevant authors, especially Milíč of Kroměříž, Matěj of Janov, and John Wycliffe. It thus presents Hus's eschatology in a wider context of church reformation.

Obsahem knihy jsou komentované české překlady 14 rekomendací (promočních řečí) M. Jana Husa, pronesených v letech 1398/9 -1410 na artistické fakultě pražské univerzity. Doprovodné studie jsou věnovány rukopisnému dochování těchto textů, jejich argumentační výbavě a dále výuce na pražské artistické fakultě v daném období, zejména v oblasti filozofie a gramatiky. ,The book contains annotated Czech translations of 14 recommendation speeches (graduation speeches) of M. Jan Hus delivered at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Prague between 1398/9 and 1410. The translations are preceded by four studies on the manuscript transmission of the speeches, their argumentative structure, the curriculum at the Faculty of Arts in Prague in the given period with a special focus on philosophy and grammar.

Description:
The paper deals with the comparison of content and form of eschatological statements in Hus' sermons ad populum and ad clerum. The analysis of synodal sermons Diliges Dominum Deum and State succincti and Czech Postila shows that thematic and partly also the formal heart of eschatology in the two above mentioned kinds of Hus' writings are very similar, only the details develop gradually. Hus' eschatology is not apocalyptic, its development is directed in the clear direction regardless of the addressee.
