The work deals with the Ohlas od Nežárky weekly periodical. The periodical was being published in Jindřichův Hradec in 1871-1942. the aim of my article is to process ethnographically valuable articles published during the 72 years of Ohlas od Nežárky and to evaluate the periodical in quantitative and qualitative terms. In the article, I attempted to outline the concept of the weekly periodical, to delimitate its geographic and thematic scope and thus create a work that would help other researchers with orientation in this rich printed source.
The article briefly summarises the history of the historical library in the convent of the Order of Preachers at St Giles’ in Prague. This is followed by a report on the grant project of an internal competition of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University the aims of which were to write scientific papers and to make a list of separately printed occasional sermons deposited in the mentioned library in archival boxes under shelf marks E II 97–461 and E III 118–255. The paper deals with the character of this collection of texts, their content, authors, and time and place of their origin. The investigation of the content of the boxes has revealed that the project may also help to specify some records in Bibliografie cizojazyčných bohemikálních tisků 1501–1800 (A Bibliography of Foreign-Language Printed Bohemica from 1501–1800; BCBT).
Selský archiv is one of the most important journals focused on the ethnography of Moravia and Silesia. Sixteen volumes were published between the years 1902-1923. During that time, approximately two hundred regional authors published
approximately eight hundred texts of varied ethnographical value. The magazine was most famous when Vincenc Prasek was editor-in-chief of the first eight volumes.Prasek’s commentaries strongly influenced the general content of the texts published between 1902 and 1909. The region most commonly covered by the authors was Haná, due to the fact that most regular contributors hailed from this region. Between 1909 and 1923 the content is dominated by articles from the Horácko region written by Josef František Svoboda and František Trnka. These two authors wanted to turn this
magazine focused on popular science and history into a
professional journal addressing the key issues in ethnography and archival science. The biggest attention was paid to real-life
sources, as one can see in articles about minor countryside buildings supported by approximately one hundred drawings and/or photos. When put together, these texts basically cover all aspects of life in the Moravian and Silesian countryside. In addition, popular topics included folk literature, crafts, jobs and folk nomenclature. Selected bibliography, including abstracts and key words, is available at the website of the Czech Ethnographical Society.
Since 1972, the District Homeland Museum (Okresní vlastivědné muzeum) for the district of Karviná with its seat in Český Těšín has been publishing Studies on Cieszyn Silesia. The new printed material offered publication opportunities for the professional community, especially for more comprehensive historical, linguistic, ethnographic studies which have not been suitable for the
non-fiction nature of the magazine Těšínsko (Cieszyn Silesia) due to their extent and scope. The thematic range of the ethnographically conceived contributions is very wide, ranging from memoirs to text editing, bibliography, texts thematically covering
material and non-material cultures. Essays of some homeland specialists and chroniclers are also beneficial. Since the first issues of the Studies on Cieszyn Silesia were designed as internal museum materials, awareness of their content is very low. Therefore, J. Veselská prepared a selective bibliography of ethnographically conceived papers in this publication.
