- Description:
- 1_ Analysis of chipped stone industry from Kopčany and Brehov (Slovakia). The fl ake stone assemblages (and other assemblages) which were discovered during the excavation of two archaeological sites in Eastern Slovakia – Zemplínske Kopčany and Brehov were analysed. Seventeen stone artefacts were found in object No. 24A-D/1974 at Zemplínske Kopčany. Obsidian stone, which is a local raw material, occurs at a higher frequency than imported raw materials – Jurassic fl int “G” and basalt. With the exception of two blanks (cores), the assemblage consists of fi nished tools, most of which were made on blades. Other tools present include two fl ake scrapers and a blunt drill made of Jurassic fl int “G”. One obsidian core is lightly reduced and the second obsidian core has a pyramidal shape. The remainder of the Zemplínske Kopčany assemblage includes ten fi nished products made of local (sedimentary rocks) and imported raw material (amphibolite?). Whetstones are most common and axes are less numerous. The assemblage also includes a wedge, a fragment of an axe-hammer, a globular pestle and conical byproducts from axe-hammer production., 2_ Local raw materials were used at Brehov. The local obsidian dominates and other stone materials are present in small proportions. The typological character of the fl ake industries is also different. Flakes account for 68 % of the artefacts and blades 25 %. Specifi c artefacts are the „łuszcznie“ (“Splitter” in German) though to have been used as chisels or cutting tools. The cores are very small and lightly reduced. One pebble with negative scars and one drill (borer) are also present. Other artefacts include a shaft of a fl at axe made of local hornstone and a fragment of an unfi nished granodiorite axe-hammer with a hole drilled in the middle (possibly originating from the High Tatras?). The analyzed assemblages are compared with assemblages from other Baden Culture sites in Slovakia and in particular to those from the Malopolskie Voivodship. The analyzed artefacts from Zemplínske Kopčany and Brehov correspond to two phases in the development of the Baden Culture. The older phase has stronger affi nities to the Funnel Beaker Culture, and in the case of the Brehov site, to a younger phase, which is parallel with the Pleszow-Zesławice group in the Malopolskie Voivodship., Marián Soják., and Obsahuje seznam literaruty

- Subject:
- věda, jazyk, analýza, abstrakce, language, analysis, abstraction, mimimal vocabulary, progress, 12, and 00
- Language:
- Czech
- Description:
- The article provides a language analysis of the idea of progress. It briefly outlines the method of search for mimimal vocabulary as has been proposed by Bertrand Russell in Human Knowledge, Its Scope and Limits. Then it coniders the application of this method to a social theory, namely to the language used in a theory of progress. As and expample theory it uses the well known essay L´anciene regime et la revolution (1856) by Alexis de Tocqueville. The language of the theory is analyzed, abstracted expressions are pointed out and the minimal vocabulary is presented: it consists of verb-expressions "to see", "to be wrong", "to dobut", "to think", "to feel", "to be surprised", " to choose", "to express" and To rely"; of noun-expressions "demise", "cause", "change", "nature" and "banality" together with pronouns and logical expressions. The rules for construction of composed expressions and propositions are set up and a reconstruction of the object language is suggested. The abstract character of the method is reflected., Tomáš Holeček., and Obsahuje seznam literatury

6. K analýze deontických modalít v Transparentnej intenzionálnej logike

- Type:
- model:article and TEXT
- Subject:
- analysis, deontic modalities, descriptive versus prescriptive, implicit versus explicit, paradox, and transparent intensional logic
- Language:
- Slovak
- Description:
- The aim of this paper is to outline a suitable analysis of certain deontic modalities. To avoid confusion as much as possible, I specify the subject-matter of my analysis explicitly. Subsequently, the paper argues that Transparent Intensional Logic (TIL) is an appropriate framework for developing deontic logic. The main contribution of the paper consists in a proposal concerning the analysis of deontic modalities in TIL as well as in offering a semantically based distinction between implicit and explicit deontic modalities. Finally, I introduce some definitions along with some inferential rules and show (using Ross’ paradox) how it is possible to deal with the paradoxes of deontic logic in terms of my analysis., Cílem příspěvku je nastínit vhodnou analýzu určitých deontických modalit .

7. Lazarsfeldova analýza zdůvodnění (reason analysis): metoda pro 21. století

- Subject:
- sociální výzkum, analýza, social research, analysis, 18, and 3
- Language:

- Description:
- Reason analysis is a long neglected method of data collection and analysis. This article describes the method and shows some fields of practical application. The methods and principles of reason analysis were first expounded by Lazarsfeld (1935). Reason analysis explores how respondents answer “why” questions during survey interviews. Typically, respondents are asked a simple question inquiring about the reasons that led them to make a specific decision or action. Data obtained in this way are often used to construct a simple classification of respondents. In reality, respondents often have many reasons for making a particular decision, but usually only mention one to an interviewer. Reason analysis contends that responses to ‘why’ questions are a combination of some or all reasons used by the respondent to formulate an answer to an interviewers’ question. Consequently, reason analysis constructs a “tree” of questions and an “accounting scheme” or model of the decision or action being studied. Using this framework, responses are grouped into classes and types according to their (dis)similarity. With the development of software tools it is now easy to estimate reason analysis models of survey response. One key advantage of reason analysis is that it facilitates developing a deeper understanding of the latent structure of groups; and hence allows a more precise estimation of individual level effects in studies of decision-making. As the demand for “structural estimation” models of decision making and action increase, it is likely the reason analysis will become a more influential methodological approach in the 21st century., Hynek Jeřábek., and Obsahuje bibliografii a bibliografické odkazy

- Language:
- Czech
- Description:
Nalezen byl rovněž fragment bronzového předmětu. and Several comments on the article “Belege für Buntmetallurgie aus dem Ende des 12. Jahrhunderts aus Brünn (Brno), Josefská Strasse”. The author discusses a recent article about archaeological finds from Brno, dated to the end of the 12th century. The crucible fragments described in the original work were most probably used for non-ferrous metallurgy. However, the apparent “brass casting” cannot be proven by qualitative assays of samples from the crucible walls. The remains of slag from two various crucibles yielded signs of oxygen phases, one of copper and led, the other zinc. Also a fragment of a bronze item was found at the site.

- Subject:
- fuzzy metric space, t-norm, isometry, and analysis
- Language:
- English
- Description:
- In this paper, we prove that for a given positive continuous t-norm there is a fuzzy metric space in the sense of George and Veeramani, for which the given t-norm is the strongest one. For the opposite problem, we obtain that there is a fuzzy metric space for which there is no strongest t-norm. As an application of the main results, it is shown that there are infinite non-isometric fuzzy metrics on an infinite set.
