Příběhová próza ze života mládeže patří dlouhodobě ke čtenářsky nejoblíbenějším žánrům literatury pro děti a mládež. Do hledáčku literární vědy se však dosud dostávala spíše ojediněle. Tato monografie se zaměřuje jak na definici samotného pojmu příběhová próza ze života mládeže, tak na vývoj daného žánru v období zlomu. Autorka postihuje proměny žánru v českém prostředí od roku 1989 do konce prvního desetiletí 21. století. Zkoumá přitom vývojové tendence knih pro dospívající dívky a chlapce, ale také fenomén young adult fiction, který začíná stále výrazněji ovlivňovat domácí knižní trh. ,Narrative prose from the lives of young people has long been one of the most popular genres of literature for children and young people. It has, however, so far only rarely come to the attention of literary scholarship.This monograph focuses on the definition of the concept of youth narrative prose and on the development of the genre during the breakthrough period. The author covers the changes of the genre in the Czech environment from 1989 to the end of the first decade of the 21st century. In doing so, she examines the developmental tendencies of books for adolescent girls and boys, as well as the phenomenon of young adult fiction, which is beginning to increasingly influence the domestic book market.
