Cílem práce je interpretace struktury a prostorového rozložení nekeramické složky odpadu, který se dochoval v archeologických nálezech neolitického sídliště v Bylanech u Kutné Hory. V rámci problému se soustředíme na tři roviny otázek. První se bude týkat zacházení s odpadem a jeho deponování v okolí domů, druhá rozložení nekeramického odpadu na sídlišti a třetí kvantity a struktury nekeramického odpadu z hlediska dlouhého trvání sídliště. Sledovanými kategoriemi nekeramického odpadu byly: štípaná industrie, broušená industrie, brousky, kameny a zrnotěrky (mlýny). Užitá metoda spočívala v prostorové analýze kvantitativního výskytu těchto druhů nálezů vzhledem k jejich pozici v rámci stavebních komplexů domů (usedlostí), prozkoumaných ploch i délce trvání osídlení. Doložit trend v deponování nekeramických artefaktů uvnitř usedlostí se nepodařilo; byl však prokázán excentrický rozptyl artefaktů vzhledem k pomyslnému středu osídlených ploch jednotlivých časoprostorových úseků. Na počtu domů a délce trvání osídlení je závislý počet artefaktů s výjimkou štípané industrie. Analýza průměrného počtu nekeramických nálezů vztažených na počet domů příslušného chronologického intervalu poukázala na možnost, že opuštěné usedlosti byly na sídlišti dále využívány, např. právě pro deponování odpadu. and This paper aims to provide an interpretation of the structure and spatial patterning of the non-pottery refuse preserved at the Neolithic site of Bylany. The problem is considered at three levels, tackling the questions of refuse management and deposition in the vicinity of houses (households), the spatial distribution of refuse within the settlement area as a whole, and the quantity and structure of non-pottery refuse from a long-term settlement perspective. The entire assemblage of non-pottery finds is divided into five categories: chipped stone industry, polished stone industry, grindstones, millstones and stones without use-wear traces. The method applied is based on GIS and multivariate statistics. The spatial distribution and quantity of refuse are analysed with respect to space (in terms of proximity to Neolithic houses and the whole of the excavated settled area) and time (the duration of settlement in six chronological intervals). No deliberate pattern of refuse management was identified in the vicinity of the houses, but the refuse was found to have a tendency towards eccentric grouping within the settled area as a whole. Refuse quantity is dependent on the number of houses and settlement duration. The negative correlation between the mean density of non-pottery artefacts per house and the number of houses in corresponding chronological intervals may be explained by the interpretation that refuse was commonly deposited within the areas of abandoned houses. These results correspond to ethnoarchaeological observations.
The paper follows on from a joint research project on the ceramics from the late LBK settlement of Cuiry-lès-Chaudardes, Picardy region, north-eastern France. In the course of this project, studies on raw materials, manufacturing sequences and decoration techniques have revealed a wide variety of technical practices throughout the occupation of the site. Most recently, analysis of variations in raw materials and tempers in relation to manufacturing sequences revealed that production was mostly carried out at house level, with the producers in each house implementing their own clay recipe and pot-forming method. Here we extend this research by comparing data on pot-forming and decoration at Cuiry-lès-Chaudardes. In this new study, no obvious relationships could be observed between pottery manufacturing sequences and decoration. However, comparison of the various house assemblages indicates a possible link between atypical decoration (i.e. non-local LBK styles) and exogenous pot-forming methods. Although requiring validation on a larger sample of ceramic assemblages from other sites, these preliminary observations provide some new insights into the complex dynamics at play in LBK settlements. and Článek vychází ze společného výzkumného projektu zaměřeného na keramický soubor ze sídliště LBK Cuirylès-Chaudardes (Pikardie, severovýchodní Francie). V rámci tohoto projektu byly studovány různé kroky výroby keramiky na úrovni domácnosti: komplexní průzkum surovin, výrobních postupů a výzdobných technik odhalil vysokou variabilitu technických praktik v průběhu osídlení lokality. Nedávno jsme analyzovali také rozdíly v použitých surovinách a ostřivech v závislosti na výrobních postupech. Tato první křížová analýza odhalila, že výroba se odehrávala převážně na úrovni domácnosti, tj. že hrnčíři v jednotlivých domech používali své vlastní složení keramického těsta a techniku stavby nádoby. Výzkum jsme rozšířili srovnáním postupů výroby keramiky s odchylkami ve výzdobě. Na základě syntézy výsledků různých studií, které naše výzkumná skupina uskutečnila dříve, předkládáme předběžnou analýzu propojující údaje o výzdobě a stavbě nádoby. Tento výzkum ukazuje možnou souvislost mezi atypickou výzdobou (např. exogenní nebo nestandardní LBK výzdoba) a způsoby tváření nádob, které byly označeny jako patrně exogenní. Tyto postřehy, které je teprve nutno statisticky ověřit na větším množství keramických souborů, poskytují nový vhled do složité sídelní dynamiky zemědělců LBK.
Všechny osady lidu LnK v poněkud marginálním regionu Oderské brány se vyznačují rozvinutou výrobou štípané industrie. Ta je vyrobena hlavně ze silicitu z krakovsko-čenstochovské jury, jehož zdroje jsou vzdáleny asi 150 km. Téměř na třetině artefaktů lze přesto zjistit zbytky kůry, úštěpy převládají nad čepelemi a jádra jsou stejně početná jako retušované nástroje. Vzhledem ke značné vzdálenosti od zdroje bývají stanoviště s takovou skladbou industrie považovány za sekundární výrobní centra. V diskusi je poukázáno na to, že zbytky kůry mohou být na artefaktech ponechávány záměrně, protože svědčí o jeho původu (geografickém, ale třeba i podzemním). Intenzita a způsob práce se silicity je kromě vzdálenosti od zdroje určována řadou dalších faktorů, jako je např. relaxace nebo soutěživost mezi štípači. Obliba této činnosti v odlehlé hornooderské enklávě LnK, s doklady rybolovu, může souviset i s mezolitickými tradicemi. Druhotná výrobní centra mohla vzniknout jen jako důsledek zvýšené poptávky po štípané industrii, a ta byla právě na sídlištích LnK často velmi nízká. and All sites in the “Oderská brána” Gate, Czech Silesia and North Moravia, a somewhat marginal region from the viewpoint of LBK occupation, are linked by an abundant occurrence of chipped industry, produced mainly from the chert of the Cracowian-Częstochowa Jurassic formation, the outcrops of which are 150 km distant. In spite of this remnants of cortex were ascertained on nearly one third of artefacts and cores are as numerous as formal tools. Because of a considerable distance from the source the sites with such composition of industry are usually considered to be secondary production centres. The discussion makes a reference to the fact that remnants of cortex could be left on the artefacts intentionally, since they testify to the provenance of the stone (either geographical or perhaps even below-ground). In addition to the distance from the source, intensity and manner of working with flint is determined by a number of other factors, for instance relaxation or competitiveness among knappers. The special liking for this activity in the remote Upper Oder enclave and evidence of fishing can be related to the Mesolithic traditions. Secondary production centres could only come into existence as a consequence of an increased demand for chipped industry; however this demand was often very low exactly in the settlements with the LBK.
Cílem článku je nové metodické uchopení výzdoby LBK z neolitické lokality v Bylanech u Kutné Hory. Dosavadní interpretace vývoje sídliště je založena na dataci keramického materiálu a trendech vývoje nekeramických artefaktů z tzv. stavebních komplexů. Jedná se o empiricky definované chronologicko-prostorové jednotky, jejichž jádrem je dům. Výchozí otázkou je, zda se jakkoliv změní stávající model sídliště, pokud dojde k dekonstrukci stavebních komplexů. Na základě kvantitativní analýzy stylu keramické výzdoby provedené v úrovni jednotlivých archeologických objektů bylo definováno několik skupin stylu lineární výzdoby. Význam těchto skupin byl validován prostřednictvím prostorové evidence jejich výskytu. Výsledky analýzy umožňují konfrontovat stávající teoretický model neolitických sídlišť s jinou alternativou. and The aim of the article is an innovative methodological understanding of LBK pottery decoration from the site of Bylany, Central Bohemia. The existing interpretation of the settlement development is based on pottery dating and the evolution of non-ceramic artifacts from the so-called “house complexes”. These are empirically defined spatio-temporal units with the house in their centre. The initial question is whether the existing model of the settlement will change in any way if these complexes are deconstructed. Several groups of linear decoration style were defined through quantitative analysis of pottery decoration style performed at the level of individual archaeological features. The meaning of these groups was validated through analysis of their spatial occurrence. The results of the analysis allowed comparison of the existing theoretical model of Neolithic settlements with an alternative.
Tématem práce je osídlení okresu Rakovník v době kultury s vypíchanou a stručně i kultury s keramikou lineární. V regionu, který je nejvýše položenou neolitickou sídelní oblastí v Čechách, nebyl dosud žádný větší výzkum zaměřený na toto období proveden, hlavní zásluhu na poznání zdejšího pravěku mají místní sběratelé. Neolitické lokality (celkem 31, z toho 23 s LnK a 26 s VK) se shlukují do pěti mikroregionů. Mikroregion 1 patří do povodí Ohře; z této strany dochází k neolitizaci celé kotliny. Mikroregiony 2–4 tvoří jádro osídlení. Mikroregion 5, ležící v povodí Loděnice, se nalézá již za hranicemi vlastní kotliny; osídlen byl s jistým zpožděním, a to od východu. Mikroregion 2 vykazuje silné styky s oblastí těžby pruhovaného deskového silexu v Dolním Bavorsku, a je proto pravděpodobné, že se zdejší osady na importu a distribuci této suroviny podílely zvýšeným způsobem. Vlastní kotlina byla kontinuálně osídlena od nejstaršího stupně LnK až do mladší fázeVK (IVb). and Settlement of the Rakovník district during the time of the Stroked Pottery culture. The subject of this paper is the settlement of the Rakovník district during the time of the Stroked Pottery culture and briefly the Linear Pottery culture as well. To date, no larger excavations focused on this period have been performed in the region – the highest Neolithic settlement region in Bohemia. The main credit for our knowledge of local prehistory goes to local collectors. Neolithic sites (31 in all, of which 23 are linear pottery and 26 with stroked pottery) are clustered into five microregions. Microregion 1 is in the Ohře watershed; from here neolithisation spread to the entire basin. Microregions 2–4 form the core settlement. Microregion 5, which lies in the Loděnice watershed, is located on the borders of the basin; it was settled later, from the east. Microregion 2 shows strong contacts with flint mining regions in lower Bavaria. It is thus likely that the local settlements to a large extent participated in the import and distribution of this raw material. The basin itself was continuously settled from the early linear pottery to the late stroked pottery period (IVb).
This paper reconstructs the rules governing the selection of ceramic raw material and considers certain technological aspects of the production of ceramic vessels in some Danubian cultures around the Carpathians in the Neolithic. The analysis encompassed more than 500 samples of ceramics produced by various cultural units across different chronological horizons. The results of the analysis are used to verify several hypotheses concerning the relationships and the mechanisms of cultural change in the Carpathian region. The most important questions include: (1) evolution of the LBK ceramics, (2) influence of the ALPC on the evolution of the LBK pottery in Małopolska, (3) technology of the LBK ceramics east of the Carpathians, (4) culture change at the turn of the LBK and the MC in Małopolska and (5) culture change at the turn of the MC and the L-VC in the same region. The suitability of the pottery technological analysis to solve some prehistoric problems was confirmed. and Článek rekonstruuje pravidla ovládající výběr keramických surovin a zvažuje určité technologické aspekty výroby keramických nádob v některých podunajských kulturách neolitu v oblasti Karpat. Analyzováno bylo více než 500 keramických vzorků vytvořených různými kulturními jednotkami různých chronologických horizontů. Výsledky analýzy slouží k ověření několika hypotéz týkajících se souvislostí a mechanismů kulturní změny v karpatské oblasti. Mezi nejdůležitější otázky patří: (1) vývoj LBK keramiky, (2) vliv ALPC na vývoj LBK keramiky v Malopolsku, (3) technologie LBK keramiky východně od Karpat, (4) kulturní změna na přechodu mezi LBK a MC v Malopolsku, (5) kulturní změna na přechodu mezi MC a L-VC v téže oblasti. Výsledky potvrzují vhodnost analýzy technologie keramiky pro objasnění některých otázek pravěku.
