Earliest pottery evidence in Cantabrian Spain materialises the way this new technology was adopted on the threshold of the 5th millennium cal BC. These ceramic assemblages have rarely been the object of specific study owing to their limited representativeness from both numerical and morpho-decorative points of view. This paper presents an update on the archaeological evidence, chronology and technological characteristics of the first pottery in the Cantabrian region. It summarizes recent research on this topic focused on technological analysis of some paradigmatic pottery assemblages. It focuses on the importance of the technological study of the first ceramic assemblages in the Cantabrian region (northern Spain) as a way to approach the social significance of this technological innovation. The available information supports the assertion that the appearance of ceramics in the region does not correspond to an exchange of products, but rather to a transfer of technology, and summarizes the nature of this technology and the main activities related to it. and Nejstarší známé doklady keramiky ve španělské Kantábrii dokumentují způsob převzetí nové technologie na prahu 5. století cal BC. Tyto keramické soubory byly vinou své malé reprezentativnosti jak co do kvantity, tak po morfologicko-dekorativní stránce jen výjimečně předmětem specifického studia. Článek se zaměřuje na technologické studium nejstarších lokálních keramických souborů z Kantábrie (severní Španělsko), jehož prostřednictvím lze přiblížit společenský význam této technologické inovace. Studie, které jsou o těchto artefaktech k dispozici (mineralogické – analýzy výbrusů a rentgenová difrakční analýza, a geochemické – skenování elektronovou mikroskopií s energo disperzní rentgenovou spektrometrií), umožnily určit zdrojové oblasti surovin a různé výrobní postupy používané k výrobě těchto nejstarších nádob. Ve světle dostupných informací se článek kloní k závěru, že výskyt keramiky v tomto regionu nesouvisí se směnou výrobků, ale spíše s přenosem technologie, a shrnuje podstatu této technologie a hlavní aktivity s ní spojené.
Hrad Týřov je pokládán za jeden z nejvýznamnějších raně gotických královských hradů v Čechách. Vysoce je ceněna zejména východní část jeho dispozice, charakteristická systémem pravidelně rozmístěných válcových věží. Tato dispozice je spojována s nejpokrokovějšími vývojovými trendy středověkého fortifikačního stavitelství v Evropě. Opakovaně je prezentován názor, že jde o tzv. francouzský kastel, který se ve své konkrétní formě vyvinul v okolí Paříže v 1. čtvrtině 13. století a odsud byl přímo a nezprostředkovaně importován do Čech před rokem 1249. Toto hodnocení vychází především ze systematického archeologického výzkumu, který na hradě probíhal 10 let (do roku 1984), ale dosud byl prezentován pouze formou předběžných sdělení. Archeologický výzkum mj. údajně prokázal, že dispozice horního a dolního hradu vznikla v rámci jediného stavebního záměru. Stavebně historický průzkum hradu v letech 2000–2001 dospěl k podstatně odlišnému názoru na stavební vývoj hradu a otevřel nové otázky, vztahující se také k hodnocení provenience hradní dispozice. Zároveň narazil na řadu nesrovnalostí a nejasností v dosud publikovaných závěrech archeologického výzkumu. Autor příspěvku prezentuje hlavní výsledky stavebně historického průzkumu a konfrontuje je s dosavadní představou o vývoji hradu na základě archeologického výzkumu. Přitom se kriticky zamýšlí nad metodou dlouhodobého programu výzkumu hradů v bývalém přemyslovském loveckém hvozdu a nad postavením archeologie v tomto výzkumu. and ON THE QUESTION OF THE STRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT AND ORIGIN OF TÝŘOV CASTLE: NOTES ON THE METHODOLOGY OF INVESTIGATING CASTLES IN THE FORMER ROYAL FOREST. Týřov Castle is considered as one of the most important Early Gothic royal castles in Bohemia. The eastern part of its layout and its characteristic system of regularly–spaced cylindrical towers in particular are highly regarded. This arrangement is linked to the most progressive developmental trends in Medieval fortification building in Europe. The opinion is repeatedly advanced that this is the French „castel“, which achieved its specific form in Paris in the first quarter of the 13th century, and from thence was directly and without intermediaries imported to Bohemia prior to 1249. This evaluation stems above all from systematic archaeological excavations conducted at the castle for the 10 years prior to 1984, but hitherto presented only in the form of interim assessments. The excavations have apparently shown, amongst other things, that the disposition of the upper and lower castles originated within the framework of a single structural purpose. A structural historical survey of the castle in 2000–2001 came to different conclusions regarding the castle’s development, and raised new questions that also related to the evaluation of the provenience of the castle layout. At the same time, it alluded to a range of discrepancies and ambiguities in the archaeological conclusions published to date. In this article the author presents the main results of the structural–historical survey and compares them to earlier views on the development of the castle based on the archaeological excavations. In doing so he critically reflects on the methods of the long–term programme for research into this castle in the former Přemyslid hunting forest, and on the position of archaeology within this research.
Práce přináší výsledky první geochemické analýzy provedené na pravěkých obsidiánových artefaktech z území Čech. Ke studiu bylo vybráno jedenáct vzorků s důvěryhodným datačním kontextem. Převážnou většinu analyzovaných vzorků je možné zařadit do období neolitu. Artefakty byly analyzovány dvěma nedestruktivními geochemickými metodami: hodnoty koncentrací zjištěné metodou pXRF byly kalibrovány pomocí výsledků LA-ICP-MS. Na základě výsledků je možné devět vzorků přiřadit s největší pravděpodobností slovenskému zdroji, surovina dvou vzorků pochází pravděpodobně z maďarských zdrojů. and The paper presents the results of the first geochemical analysis conducted on prehistoric obsidian artefacts from Bohemia. Eleven samples from reliably dated contexts were chosen for the study. The vast majority of the analysed samples can be classified into the Neolithic period. The artefacts were analysed using two non-destructive geochemical methods: concentration values determined by portable X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (pXRF) were calibrated using the results of laser ablation inductively coupled mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). Based on the results, the origin of nine samples can, with the greatest degree of probability, be traced to Slovakia, the other two to Hungary.
