The contribution aims to provide material that can be used in development of more realistic physical as well as theoretical models of voice production. The experimental set-up methodology and the results of measurement of airflow rate, subglottal, oral and generated acoustic air pressures are presented together with the simultaneously measured flow-induced vibrations of a vocal folds replica, made of soft silicon rubber, and recorded by a high speed camera. The data were measured during ‘soft‘ phonation onset, given by the phonation threshold airflow rate, and during ‘normal‘ phonation for the airflow rate of about three times higher. A model
of the human vocal tract in the position for production of vowel [u:] was used, and the flow resistance was raised by phonating into a glass resonance tube either in the air or having the other end of the tube submerged under water, and by phonating into a narrow straws. The results for the pressures presented in time and frequency domain are comparable with the physiological ranges and limits measured in humans for ordinary phonation and for production of vocal exercises used in voice therapy. and Obsahuje seznam literatury
The objective of this study was to use nondestructive measurements as the precise irrigation indices for potted star cluster (Pentas lanceolata). Drought stress was imposed on plants for 0, 3, 5, 7, 12, and 16 d by withholding water. Measurements were conducted on the third leaf counted from the apex (upper leaves) and on the third leaf from the bottom (lower leaves). Within the range of soil water content (SWC) from 10 to 45%, leaf water potential (WP), SWC, and soil matric potential (SMP), chlorophyll fluorescence, photochemical reflectance index (PRI), adjusted normalized difference vegetation index (aNDVI), and the reflectance (R) at 1950 nm (R1950) were measured. The plants reached the temporary wilting point at -3.87 MPa of leaf WP; the maximal fluorescence yield of the light-adapted state (Fm′) ratio of upper-to-lower leaves was 1.7. When the Fm′ ratio was 1.3, it corresponded to lower-leaf WP < -2.27 MPa, SWC < 21%, SMP < -20 kPa, PRI < 0.0443, aNDVI < 0.0301, and R1950 > 8.904; it was the time to irrigate. In conclusion, the Fm′ ratio of upper-to-lower leaves was shown to be a nondestructive predictor of leaf WP and can be used to estimate irrigation timing., C. W. Wu, M. C. Lee, Y. L. Peng, T. Y. In greening mustard cotyledons, both photosystems (PS) 1 and 2 were significantly promoted by addition of gibberelic acid (GA) at low concentrations, i.e. upto 10 μΜ, while at higher concentrations no significant changes were recorded. PS2 activity in kinetin (KN) treated seedlings was promoted at concentrations upto 5 μΜ KN, while it showed a slight inhibition at higher concentrations. No significant change in PS1 activity was observed when compared to controls. Other particular photosynthetic electron transport reactions were also increased by GA and KN. KN03 showed concentration-dependent effects on photosynthetic electron transport reactions.
In the future, speech unquestionably will become the primary means of communication between humans and machines. New applications of artificial neural networks are capable of recognizing human speech and analyze the meaning of the recognized text. The condition of the effectiveness of two-way human-machine voice communication is to apply the mechanisms of command verification and correctness. In this paper there is a review of the selected issues on recognition and safety estimations of voice commands in natural language given by the operator of the technological device. A view is offered of the complexity of the recognition process of the operator‘s words and commands using neural networks made of a few layers of neurons. There is also an intelligent system of two-way voice communication between the technological device and the operator presented, which consists of the intelligent mechanism of operator identification, word and command recognition, command syntax and result analysis, command safety assessment, technological process supervision as well as operator reaction assessment. The paper presents research results of speech recognition and automatic command recognition as well as command safety estimation with artificial neural networks. and Obsahuje seznam literatury
In the Baixo Vouga region of north-central Portugal, forests occupy half of the territory, of which two thirds are Eucalypts plantations. The hydrological implications of this large-scale introduction of eucalypt are unknown and the aim of this exploratory study, realized in the Caramulo Mountains, was to describe overland flow (OLF), subsurface flow (SSF) and stream flow (Q) in a catchment dominated by Eucalyptus plantations. The main conclusions are that annual OLF rate is low, spatially heterogeneous between 0.1% and 6% and concentrated during the wet season as saturation excess, particularly as return flow. Infiltration-excess OLF due to the strong soil water repellence (SWR) is dominant during dry season, but produces residual runoff amount. SSF is the principal mechanism of runoff formation. It originates from matrix flow and pipe flow at the soil-bedrock interface, principally during the wet season. Matrix flow is correlated with soil moisture (SM) content, with a threshold of 25 %. Pipe flow starts with saturation of soil bottom but without saturation of the entire soil profile, due to a large network of macropores. Stream flow response is highly correlated with matrix flow behaviour in timing and intensity. SWR induces a very patchy moistening of the soil, concentrates the fluxes and accelerates them almost 100 times greater than normal percolation of the water in the matrix.
The aim of this study was to determine the impact of increased copper contents on selected physiological processes in oneyear-old Pinus sylvestris L. needles from a former German timber storage area in Warcino Forest District, a subject to an environmental quality survey. Samples were collected from the area with the high copper content in the soil. The control area was a nearby pine tree stand showing unimpeded growth. The significant growth inhibition was found in dwarf shoots and whole needles, increased water content, and reduced dry mass were also observed. The chlorophyll content was lowered, while 20% higher electrolyte leakage was found. Chlorophyll a fluorescence indicated only higher values of the nonphotochemical quenching in P. sylvestris from the Cu-site. Significant differences were shown in the rate of gas exchange measured by changes in carbon dioxide or oxygen concentration. The intensity of photosynthesis in needles of P. sylvestris from the Cu-site measured by CO2 uptake was considerably higher than that of oxygen production. The rate of respiration in the needles from the Cu-site measured by the amount of released CO2 was higher only by 15%, while according to O2 consumed, the rate increased by 30% in relation to the control. Our results suggest that the copper accumulation in P. sylvestris needles affected the morphology and physiology of the studied organs., K. Możdżeń, T. Wanic, G. Rut, T. Łaciak, A.
