- Description:
- The site of Mohelno-Plevovce is situated below the water line of the Mohelno water reservoir (lower part of the Dalešice pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant). The site was repeatedly occupied during the Late Upper Paleolithic. We discovered three areas with in-situ artifacts within intact sediments. While two assemblages excavated so far in Artifact Cluster 3 are characterized by microlithic tools made on carenoidal blanks and utilization of local rocks, both assemblages in Artifact Clusters 1 and 2 differ significantly from Artifact Cluster 3 and represent different techno-complexes. Artifact Clusters 1 and 2 are characterized by prevailing erratic flint supplemented by several artifacts made on radiolarite and obsidian. Technology is characterized by long, narrow and straight blades and bladelets removed from bidirectional cores. The collection of tools is characterized by prevailing backed microblades, in several cases with a straight truncation. In one case the truncations form a rectangle. This techno-complex continuing the Gravettian technological tradition is similar to material from Brno-Štýřice that is currently dated to the large time span covering two millennia between 17 100 and 19 100 calBP., Petr Škrdla, Jaroslav Bartík, Jan Eigner, Tereza Rychtaříková., and Obsahuje seznam literatury

13. Fugere artem memorativam? The art of memory in 15th c. Bohemia and Moravia: a preliminary survey

- Description:
- The study offers a basic overview of the manuscripts of the ars memorativa treatises in late medieval Czech lands. On the basis of the surviving evidence it is possible to prove that during the 15th century this ancient art (however suspicious and cumbersome it may seem today) was known and practiced here. It coexisted with general (often primarily medical) set of advices on efficient studying some of which openly criticize the art of memory for being too impractical. Besides copies of Italian and West European art of memory models, there is a number of these treatises and shorter treatments of the art composed in the Czech lands. Each of them includes specific features and innovations not encountered elsewhere. The manuscript context of ars memorativa shows that it was not seen as a part of rhetoric theory intended for a restricted number of intellectuals but as a means of storing and recuperating important information actively used especially by students and preachers. and Lucie Doležalová.

- Description:
- During a resecue excavation in the area of Mušov-Neurissen (Land-register territory Mušov, municipality Pasohlávky, district Brno-venkov) in 1993-1994 we investigated an area with numerous traces of Roman military presence, and we also found evidence for settlement activities of local barbarian populations. An important Marcomannic wars site is located beneath Burgstall hill. In the area of Neurissen (Mušov-Neurissen IV), human skeletons (34 individuals) and parts of animal skeletons have been found. This article is focused on small artefacts of barbarian provenance which have been recovered from the ditch filling. One possible interpretation of this unusual find is that the humans found in the ditch were killed and discarded in the ditch during rituals, the details of which remain unknown., Ondrej Šedo., and Obsahuje seznam literatury

- Description:
- In the contribution geological structure and geophysical data along the northern part of the Diendorf-Čebín tectonic zone (DCTZ) is analyzed in relation to the position of the measured GPS test areas and precise levelling profiles. For this purposes the former geophysical data have been reambulated and analyzed, too. Revision of geological knowledge and sources has been done in places of the proposed polygons. The results of reinterpretation of the Grav/Mag data and selected seismic reflection profiles suggest new possibilities and variety of structural interpretations of this tectonic zone. It is evident that the whole tectonic system has undergone complicated tectonic development during the Paleogene and Neogene. Therefore the recent mapping and analyses by GPS and precise levelling have to be realized in places where the geological structural ambiguity has to be eliminated., Lubomil Pospíšil, Otakar Švábenský, Josef Weigel and Michal Witiska., and Obsahuje bibliografii

- Language:

- Description:
- This study is the first part of a planned series of articles on the issue of disputations about Wyclif in connection with his 45 articles. It analyses the anonymous undated refutation of Oxford University’s testimonial on the blameless life and work of John Wyclif, and makes it accessible in a critical edition in the form of an appendix. By taking into consideration manuscript preservation, argumentation, and literary arrangement as well as chronology, the author proves for the first time the immediate relation of the refutation to the Carthusian cloister of Údolí Josafat (Valley of Josephat) in Dolany near Olomouc and its prior Štěpán of Dolany. A component of the study is an excursion into the issue of Archbishop Zbyněk’s synodal directive to surrender books by Wyclif. and Dušan Coufal.
