The research project mostly concentrates on gender topic. I carry out research in three small mountainous villages in Northern Slovakia. I am interested in peasant people, especially women, and different aspects of their lives: Their life strategies (how they survive) in this mountainous part of Slovakia. I use the oral history method which has not been so common in Czech and Slovak research until now, but which is still one of frequently used qualitative methods. I decided to use this method because it is suitable for the aim of my project. I would like to record and preserve the remarkable stories of ordinary women’s lives in these villages. My intention is to prepare these data for further processing and analysis. I suppose that these stories would be a unique material for further studying and preservation of specific style of life which is slowly disappearing.
International Oral History Association and the Czech Oral History Association jointly sponsored a conference, Between Past and Future: Oral History, Memory and Meaning, held in Prague from 7 to 11 July, 2010. Oral history is a growing specialty within the field of history: new methods, technologies and approaches as well as innovative perspectives and areas of research place it among the discipline’s most dynamic specializations. It was the first time that the IOHA met in Prague. and Pavel Mücke.
The paper analyzes the ways in which the state approach to homosexuality in Communist Czechoslovakia intersected with actually lived lives and experiences of ordinary non -heterosexual people who identified (mainly retroactively) as gays, lesbians or transsexuals. In the Czech context, this is the first research of its kind and combines oral history with a gender analysis of sexological literature from the communist period, to put together a complex mosaic of sexuality in recent past. This confrontation of methods exposes the processes by which gender and sexuality in this era worked as tools of regulation and control, and shows how non -heterosexual people responded to this pressure. The paper offers a multilayer reading and analysis of normality/deviance, public/private and submission/resistance in communist Czechoslovakia., Věra Sokolová., and Obsahuje bibliografii
