Eight species of Typhlodromus Scheuten were collected during an extensive survey of phytoseiid mites in Norway. One of the species, Typhlodromus norvegicus, is described as a new taxon and Typhlodromus ulex Evans is considered to be a junior synonym of Typhlodromus phialatus Athias-Henriot. Keys are given for the identification of the genera of the Typhlodrominae and species of the genus Typhlodromus represented in the fauna of Norway. Distribution maps are provided for seven species and the frequency of Typhlodromus species on a range of host plants is given in tabular form. Picea abies showed the highest frequency of Typhlodromus spp. and all eight species were found on Juniperus communis.
Two new species, Taraxacum maricum and Taraxacum cristatum, of the section Erythrosperma from Central Europe are described in this paper. These species are similar to western European taxa, T. maricum to T. proximum, and T. cristatum is morphologically close to T. scanicum. Both new taxa are triploid apomictic microspecies. Specific characteristics, information on distribution and ecology and comparison with similar species are presented. Pictures and distribution maps of the new species are also included.
Minuaria kabylica (Pomel) Dvořáková, a species of the section Polymechana Mattf., is defined in terms of taxonomy and chorology. The taxa Minuartia verna subsp. kabylica (Pomel) Maire et Weiller (= Alsine kabylica Pomel) from Northern Africa, and M. grandiflora (C. Presl) Dvořáková from Sicily are taxonomically identical. The distribution of M. kabylica is limited to the Atlas mountain system in Northern Africa and to the mountains of northern Sicily. The seed coat of M. kabylica is documented by an SEM photograph.
