Práce se zabývá některými aspekty aktuálního členění věty v rovinách novinářského a odborného stylu současné psané angličtiny. Je zaměřena zejména na identifikaci informační kontury textu, výskyt sdělných jednotek a sdělných polí, míru porušování principu linearity, zastoupení dynamických sémantických škál, znázornění dynamiky široké a úzké scény a v neposlední řadě také na výskyt tří typů tematických posloupností (posloupnosti s návaznou tematizací tématu, posloupnosti s průběžným tématem a posloupnosti s tematickým odvozováním). Tyto aspekty jsou použity k ověření výchozí hypotézy o stylistické platnosti aktuálního členění. ,The study investigates selected aspects of Functional Sentence Perspective (FSP) in contemporary English news and academic prose, namely the information contour of text, the occurrence of communicative units and communicative fields, violation of the FSP linearity principle, the occurrence of dynamic semantic scales, dynamics of broad and narrow scenes, and the types of thematic progressions, including simple linear thematic progressions, progressions with continuous (constant) themes, and progressions with derived themes. These aspects are taken into consideration to address a hypothesis that FSP phenomena are stylistically relevant.
