- The present article focuses on one of the Avicenna´s most important philosophical-mystical recital Hayy ibn Yaqhdan (The Living, Son of the Vigilant). Its main motive represents the journey of human intellect towards a higher knowledge under the guidance of the Active intellect personified in the figure of The Living, son of the Vigilant. Ibn Sina presents through this symbolic story central elements of his teachings, namely the theory of intellect, psychology and epistemology, the theory of matter and form, cosmology, emanation theory, angelology and theology.
