We investigated responses of chloroplasts from flag leaves of a newly-developed super-high-yield rice (Oryza sativa L.) hybrid LiangYouPeiJiu (LYPJ) to water stress (withholding irrigation) during the grain-filling period. In the early stage of water stress (0-6 d) only the activity of Hill reaction was inhibited, whereas activities of photophosphorylation and Ca2+-ATPase, and ATP content were increased and peaked in the day 6 of withholding irrigation. In the late stage of water stress (6-12 d), the activities of photosynthetic O2 evolution, Hill reaction, photophosphorylation, and Ca2+- ATPase, and ATP content were significantly reduced. The membrane lipid content was sharply decreased, especially of sulfoquinovosyl-diacylglycerol (SQDG) and phosphatidylglycerol (PG). The changes in the ultrastructure of chloroplasts included mainly a decrease in number of grana and increase in number of osmiophilic granules. and G.-X. Chen ... [et al.].
We study whether the projective and injective properties of left $R$-modules can be implied to the special kind of left $R[x]$-modules, especially to the case of inverse polynomial modules and Laurent polynomial modules.
The diurnal variation of net photosynthetic (PN) and transpiration (E) rates in soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr. cv. Fukuyutaka] plants grown under 100, 50, or 25 % of full sun irradiance (I100, I50, I25 plants) were compared. In the morning, activities of the plants were measured at irradiances under which they grew. However, during the afternoon, all the plants were tested under full irradiance. The lower the growth irradiance, the lower PN, E, and mesophyll conductance values were found. Stomatal conductance was considerably lower in I25 plants only. Both the increase in specific leaf area (SLA) and the decrease in nitrogen content per leaf area unit contributed to the PN reduction of soybean plants grown under low irradiances. Though E of the plants grown under different irradiances differed less markedly than PN, the water use efficiency declined from I100 to I25. and Y. Koesmaryono ... [et al.].
J. Płonka in [12] noted that one could expect that the regularization ${\mathcal R}(K)$ of a variety ${K}$ of unary algebras is a subdirect product of ${K}$ and the variety ${D}$ of all discrete algebras (unary semilattices), but is not the case. The purpose of this note is to show that his expectation is fulfilled for those and only those irregular varieties ${K}$ which are contained in the generalized variety ${TDir}$ of the so-called trap-directable algebras.
