I came to Chile on a whim for three months, which turned into 13 years. At first I thought that living in another country would be difficult. That I would stand out like a Martian, a freak or a fish out of water. In reality, initially I did feel that way. Slowly however, I got to know people. Good and kind hearted people, people who had the same principles as me. With time they included me as one of their own and supported me without being asked. That is when I finally felt at home and suddenly I blinked, and it had been 13 years. I was no longer a fish out of water.
