s-1
I came from a big family and I am the youngest girl.
s-2
My parents never wanted me to leave and work abroad.
s-3
We are very close, and they used to tell me you are here - you dont know how to live abroad.
s-4
But after my father died and I got married, I spent six years working in Philippines.
s-5
I wanted to get out.
s-6
I wanted to go to America.
s-7
This was the dream of a young girl.
s-8
But I saw it, and the world, while working in a hospital in Abu Dhabi.
s-9
They choose some nurses, including me, to serve the mother of Sheikh Mubarak.
s-10
It was a nice experience to serve a royal family and go all around the world with them.
s-11
I had to change my passport twice, because I had no papers left for the visas.
s-12
Then I got bored of travelling, but I had to stay in Abu Dhabi because of my job.
s-13
But there came a point where I needed my own freedom and to relieve the stress of taking care of a high-profile person.
s-14
I was interviewed for a job by a Libyan delegate, who promised me many things.
s-15
But when I got here things were different.
s-16
Since I arrived here, I have been the nurses supervisor in the Oncology department.
s-17
Its really tough.
s-18
It was hard, at first, to work in the hospital because it is too big and crowded.
s-19
I asked, Is this a hospital, or a shopping mall?
s-20
Over the many years that I have been here, I have just adapted.
s-21
What motivates me to do my job is the patients.
s-22
Especially in these times, even if I dont work with patients directly, this is still what keeps me coming to serve them.
s-23
But now, under the current tense circumstances int he country, we lack everything.
s-24
For many months, the central storage has been empty.
s-25
I keep trying to find someone to donate, and some give me money to at least buy the surgical tubes.
s-26
And under this situation, everyone is angry and now most of the staff have started working side jobs in the private sector.
s-27
None of us have received our monthly salaries for a long time.
s-28
What I love about Libya is people themselves.
s-29
They are so nice and simple.
s-30
I have attended a few weddings and I like the fashion.
s-31
I only go to see the gowns, as they are so nice.
s-32
Everyone shows off their dresses.
s-33
On the side, I enjoy playing my guitar and playing in church.
s-34
I spend most of the time in housing with my colleagues.
s-35
We used to do parties and birthdays, but now the economic situation that effected Libyans is also affecting us.
s-36
We cant even send or receive from outside cash in banks.
s-37
And within the black-market exchange, my salary is worth ess than $200 USD.
