Description:

Čtyřpodlažní nárožní budova, v přízemí na fasádě kolem celé budovy deset alegorických soch stojících na soklech. Dívka s balíčkem ovázaným stuhou (alegorie poštovnictví jako Psyché ?); nahý mladík s okřídlenou čapkou a střevíci drží v ruce kaduceus (alegorie obchodu jako Merkur); dívka se džbánem (Danaida ?); chlapec s husou (?); dívka se dvěma ozdobnými pásy; nahá dívka zakrývající si rukama klín (alegorie Krásy jako Venuše); římský voják s putnou vody (sv. Florián), dívka s klubkem nití nebo vlny (alegorie textilního průmyslu jako Arachné ?); mladý boxer ovinující si ruku koženými řemínky (alegorie sportu jako řecký boxer); mladík v uniformě držící na rukách lokomotivu (alegorie železnice nebo dopravy)., Dent 2002, s.95., and Budova byla projektovaná původně jako pojišťovna s luxusními byty ve vyšších podlažích ("Adria Biztositó Társulat Székháza"). Po II. Sv. válce sídlo městské policie, dnes Le Meridien Hotel. Na fasádě jsou sochy, z nichž některé souvisejí s původním účelem stavby (pojišťovna). Jsou tu některé neantické náměty (například sv. Florián patron hasičů), doplněné typickými alegoriemi naznačujícími souvislost s pojišťovnictvím, průmyslem a dopravou, ale i personifikace jednoznačně vycházející z antické inspirace Adria Palota (Palace), was built for the Italian Adria Insurance Company (Riunione Adriatica di Sicurta). Building with its classical features was decorated with ten allegoric figures representing symbols of insurance. The first set of 10 statues symbolizing the different branches of insurance, were created by Miklós Ligeti and Ede Telcs from Kosice marble. The Palace was badly damaged during World War II and sculptural decoration disappeared. Now modern reconstructions of sculptures made from 1949-1950 are placed on the walls. From left to right on the main façade of the building first stands a man with a goose representing burglary and theft insurance. Alongside him is a woman holding valuable jewels, previously sculpted by Miklós Ligeti. She represents the now antiquated branch of dowry insurance. The third figure on the front of the hotel is a nude woman, looking bashful and as if she feels the cold. Originally created by Telcs, this statue denotes insurance for damage caused by ice and hail. At the right corner of Le Meridien is a military-looking figure with a bucket. This is Saint Florián, patron saint of firemen and, naturally, he stands for fire insurance. Just behind him, around the corner on Miatyánk utca, stands one of the three mythological Fates cutting a thread (the allotted life span) to represent life insurance, and next to her a man bandaging his wounded arm symbolizes accident insurance. On the pedestrian street of Deák Ferenc utca behind the hotel stands a man holding in his arms a locomotive engine. This represents warranties. A woman holding a gift box in wrapping paper symbolizes the access or achievement branch of insurance. On the back corner of the hotel building, facing the metro station stands Mercury in a winged helmet, holding a snake which winds itself around a sword. He indicates delivery insurance. Finally a woman with a jug (glass insurance) originally by Telcs, stands just behind the man with the goose.
