The International Oral History Association in collaboration with the University of Guadalajara and the Mexican Oral History Association sponsored a conference 23 to 27 September 2008 on the topic Oral History - a dialogue with our times. The academic program has accepted more than 650 submissions from oral history specialists from five continents. Among the topics are those that reflect upon the memories of violence and war, memory and politics, gender and so on. and Pavel Mücke.
Constitutive meeting of the Czech Oral History Association took part on 8th January 2007 in the Academy building. The method of oral history in Eastern Europe is less prevalent than in the West so the meeting was some kind of breakthrough. and Pavel Mücke.
International Oral History Association and the Czech Oral History Association jointly sponsored a conference, Between Past and Future: Oral History, Memory and Meaning, held in Prague from 7 to 11 July, 2010. Oral history is a growing specialty within the field of history: new methods, technologies and approaches as well as innovative perspectives and areas of research place it among the discipline’s most dynamic specializations. It was the first time that the IOHA met in Prague. and Pavel Mücke.
This short study tries to deal with topic of foreigners seen from the perspective of communist policemen employed in, which was the only official body uniting a public guarding police, a criminal police and also a secret police in Czechoslovakia before 1989. Based on the analysis of twelve oral history interviews with ex-SNB members of basic and middle ground of SNB hierarchy, author is attempting to conclude the most visible patterns of individual and collective memory and "image countours" of foreigners and their countries connected with pre-1989 period.
