- Description:
- The “Personalia” chapter contains the profiles and bibliographies of works of society members in connection with their important anniversaries or deaths. Memory of PhDr. Josef Vařeka, Dr.Sc. by Věra Kovářů commemorates the life and the professional story of an outstanding personality of Czech ethnology of the second half of the twentieth century - J. Vařeka, who was the secretary of the Ethnographical Society for many years’ standing. Mrs Kovářů reminds the readers primarily of his activities in the field of documentation and the research of traditional architecture, and his contribution in the compilation of the encyclopaedia Lidová architektura (Traditional Architecture) and the most recent encyclopaedic handbook Lidová kultura. Národopisná encyklopedie (Folk Culture: Ethnographical Encyclopaedia). In 2008, the ethnographer of the Hradec Králové Museum Zdena Lenderová left the Ethnographical society forever in the age of only fifty two years. She dedicated her professional life to museum work - she created a number of excellent exhibitions and catalogues devoted to typically ethnographical topics (shrovetide tradition, nativity scenes, reverse paintings on glass), including issues on the changes of urban lifestyles in the nineteenth and twentieth century., She also contributed to the development of methods of public education and popularization of Hradec Králové’s cultural legacy. L. Petráňová’s article about Z. Lenderová is supplemented by the Selective bibliography of PhDr. Zdena Lenderová by Judita Hrdá. K. Brožovičová reminds us of the thirtieth death anniversary of Josef Tomeš in her article Looking Back at the Legacy of Josef Tomeš. He aimed his research activities primarily on the fields of social and spiritual culture. As a research worker he built on the field research carried out particularly in his native region Horňácko, in Valašsko, Těšínsko and western Slovakia. He applied a micro-sociological perspective, paying particular attention to the functioning of basic social institutions such as family, neighbourhood, social and legal relations, etc. However, mere description was not the point., His aim was to delineate the social changes that took place in the village communities and to explain the changes in folk culture and the various traditions of society. Josef Tomeš devoted part of his professional life to folklore festivals, their documentation and creation. Helena Bočková comments on the anniversary of an active collaborator and active member of the Czech Ethnographical Society in her contribution PhDr. Jaromír Tausch - Anniversary of the author of Batelovsko. Working as a teacher aroused his interest in history and culture study in the southern part of Vysočina - a region which he dealt with in his museum work even in his retirement (Jihlava, Pelhřimov). In his essays he concerned himself with occupation of local people and selected manifestations of spiritual and social culture. He directed most of his energy to the history and cultural legacy of Batelovsko. PhDr. Hana Dvořáková (born in 1948), the Head of the Institute of Ethnography of the Moravian Museum Brno, celebrated an important anniversary in 2008. While working in the museum of Kloubouky u Brna and later in Brno, she created several exhibitions shown in her home country as well as abroad. Some of them were awarded by the Czech Ethnographical society (Me Tibi Dedico and World under Glass). In her research work, she concentrates on non-professional and folk art, toys and folk religiosity, ethnographical film and photograph. Hana Dvořáková recently reminded the public of the controversial figure of Czech ethnographer František Pospíšil via a conference and a book. A permanent ethnographical exhibition Pictures from Rural Life of Moravia (Moravian Traditional Culture in the Mirror of Time) has not been implemented so far., and Tento abstrakt je společný pro všech 7 článků uvedených v oddílu Personalia
