The article deals with the Nativity Scene which was made by the painter, restorer and gilder František Štancl (1885-1963) in Ústí nad Orlicí between 1952 and 1963. The text is based on the memories of Štancl’s daughter-in-law Zora Štanclová and grandson Jiří Štancl and it focuses on the form of the tradition transmitted to and practiced in Prague. Attention is also paid to the technique applied over time to build the Nativity Scene.
