and John marvelled exceedingly when he saw the monkish brother, and his garb, and perceived his pleasant manner of speech, and his internal thought about God, which was like fire.

And after these things the blessed John took counsel with himself, saying, 'First of all let me go to my parents, so that i may make them prepare for me a Gospel wherein I may read, for I do not know the commandments of Christ,
