- Description:
- This paper addresses the question of the pronunciation of the word management in Czech. Following an overview of the available resources on this pronunciation (e.g. dictionaries or prescriptive pronunciation guides), the paper presents the results of research conducted using 52 examples of the pronunciation of this expression (from the DIALOG Corpus, Czech Radio internet server, YouTube, and others). The analysis shows that speakers are more inclined toward the variant [mɛnɛd͡ʒmɛnt]. The variant [mɛnɛʒmɛnt], which is simplified in comparison with the first variant, was the second most common. These results contrast with the recommendations commonly provided to users by norm authorities, e.g. authors of dictionaries, in which the variant [mɛnɪd͡ʒmɛnt] (which appeared only rarely in the data) is recommended.

- Language:

- Description:
- The necessity to distinguish between ontological (cognitive, extralinguistic) content and linguistic (''literal'') meaning has its sources in European structural linguistics. The idea that the task of linguistics itself is to study language in its ''form'' rather than in its ''substance'' is further elaborated in the Prague Linguistic Circle. However, analyzing concrete language data we often face many open questions: It is not always clear how to divide the knowledge of language from the knowledge of the world, which general criteria could be used for the separation of (language) ambiguity and vagueness etc. The present contribution cannot be aimed at the solution of these non-trivial distinctions; we only present some Czech examples as a challenge for consideration, which we believe to be useful for the determination of this boundary. The examples belonging to the different phenomena of language structure are analyzed from the point of view of the asymmetry between the layer of content and the layer of meaning. The examples with different aspectual and tense forms are used as an exemplification of the asymmetry ''same content - different meanings''. The reflexive forms, dative case dependent on the verb, coreference with infinitival and other constructions serve as examples of the situation where instances of different content are not articulated as oppositions in linguistic meaning but rather display structural ambiguity. Despite of these problems, we are convinced that without keeping the distinction between linguistic meaning and cognitive content during the analysis of language data the description of the language system is impossible.

- Description:
- Transnational feminism has become a significant global actor in recent decades, but it is not unanimous. Imperial tendencies of western feminists to influence women in other cultures have already appeared in the history of the feminist movement. Criticism of white Euro-American feminism, especially in the form of global sisterhood, has reached a peak in the past three decades, especially in international fora. Anti-colonial feminists have complained about the racist and orientalist practices of American feminists. Black and latino women, Eastern European post-communist women, and Islamic feminists have voiced protest against the universalisation of feminism and western forms of emancipation. This article presents these challenges to the feminist movement and the recent shift to the concept of transnational feminism that includes intersectional analysis and transversal politics. The author argues that in the 1990s post-socialist feminists were critical of the West in the same way that third-world feminists have been. Today this problem is beginning to twist as the post-socialist feminists became the part of the dominant subject and they need to take into account the criticisms of marginalised women from developing countries., Marta Kolářová., Obsahuje bibliografii, and Anglické resumé
