Children's Day at the Baxa Children's Shelter

The segment from the 1937 Československý zvukový týdeník Aktualita (Czechoslovak Aktualita Sound Newsreel) Issue No. 31 informs about an ongoing holiday event Children's Day of Joy which was organised for Prague children by the Czechoslovak Sound Newsreel. The opening scene shows children who are, for lack of other options, playing out in the streets. This is contrasted by showing opportunities for physical activity on the playground, while playing ball games or by the water. Baxa's Children's Shelter in Havlíčkovy Sady has toys and snacks available for children. Prague mayor Karel Baxa and the future mayor Petr Zenkl have come to visit the place.
