Description
The Lucernafilm film footage features various construction stages of the Lucerna Palace on Wenceslas Square. The first Prague building with reinforced concrete and arcades, designed in the style of the slightly old-fashioned Art Nouveau and emerging Modernism, was constructed in the years 1907-1921 on the original site of the demolished Aerenthal Palace's garden in Štěpánská Street. Stanislav Bechyně, Josef Čamský, and Vácslav Havel all worked on the architectural plans. The camera captures wide shots of the complex under construction with the National Museum in the background. Construction work is underway on the building's roofïwe see overhead shots of the roof of the brewery "U Bachorů" and a part of Wenceslas Square. Václav Havel, his wife Emilia, and their son Miloš walk through the site alongside a delegation. Shots of Václav Havel with his wife and sons Václav Maria and Miloš on the roof.
