Description
The unedited film footage captures the riverbed modifications of Vltava in the Maniny area of Prague's Holešovice district, which were planned by architect Eduard Schwarzer and commenced in 1923. The construction of the Libeň Bridge, designed by architects František Mencl and Pavel Janák, could be realised in 1924-1928 thanks to these regulations of Vltava's flow. The site was visited by President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk accompanied by Ministers Vladislav Brdlík, Franz Spina, and Chancellor Přemysl Šámal. A second official visitation consisted of ministers František Udržal, František Staněk, Josef Václav Najman, Franz Spina, Jan Malypetr, and Prague Mayor Karel Baxa, who is shown giving a formal speech. Shots of the Libeň Bridge under construction and traffic in the Holešovice harbour.
