The segment from the 1939 Český zvukový týdeník Aktualita (Czech Aktualita Sound Newsreel) No. 49B shows the National Theatre´s new production of Goethe's Faust. We see Director Karel Dostal talking about the significance of the actors' masks. Actors Jan Pivec, Marie Glázrová and Míla Pačová are putting on make-up and rehearsing their lines. An excerpt from the play follows.
