Description
The segment from the 1941 Český zvukový týdeník Aktualita (Czech Aktualita Sound Newsreel) Issue No. 6A shows the Janáček (formerly Štefánik) chain bridge before its closure in 1941 and its subsequent dismantling, which took place in the years 1946-1947. Shots of the bridge taken from the Letná plain (Letenská pláň); students of fine arts paint the bridge there. Captured on camera is the entire bridge with the students in the foreground. The most valuable parts of the original construction by architect Rowland Mason Ordish were stored in the National Technical Museum depository after dismantling.
