The Barrandov Film Studios

The film footage from the AB production company features the progressing construction of the Barrandov Film Studios in 1931. The urban design was done by architect Max Urban. The footage begins with shots of the old AB Film Studios in the brewery garden in Vinohrady. Businessman Miloš Havel and members of the Committee for the Construction of the New Film Studios inspect the future site of the building on Barrandov Hill. The next part of the film footage is devoted to the individual construction stages. The first ceremonial dig, the subsequent digging of foundations, the leveling of soil, the making of wooden formwork and reinforcements, the concreting work, and the land surveying work. The footage ends with a wide shot of the empty construction site covered in snow.
