Description
The segment from the 1938 Český zvukový týdeník Aktualita (Czech Aktualita Sound Newsreel) Issue No. 22 shows the celebrations honoring the old farmer families Opatrný and Mudra on 15 May 1938 in Líšná u Zbiroha. The celebrations, related to the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Czechoslovak Republic and the 90th anniversary of the abolition of statute labor, are attended by member of the National Assembly Rudolf Beran, Minister of National Defence František Machník, and representatives of the Czechoslovak Agricultural Council. Commemorative plaques by sculptor Karel Opatrný with the inscription "For Loyalty to the Soil" are hung on the facades of the Opatrný and Mudra family farms. Rudolf Beran and Mr Mudra speak at the ceremony. Shots of the farmstead with the commemorative plaque documenting the known history of the family, farming on the same land uninterrupted for more than 250 years.
