Description
The segment shows the completion of the Cathedral of Saints Vitus, Wenceslaus and Adalbert (katedrála sv. Víta, Václava a Vojtěcha) at Prague Castle. The cathedral's completion, which had been put off for several centuries, was decided on in 1844 with the foundation of the "Union for Completion of the Cathedral of St. Vitus". The completion was entrusted to architect Josef Mocker, who authored the cathedral's current neo-Gothic style. Shots of the construction site in the third courtyard and the cathedral's exterior. Kamil Hilbert, who became the main architect of the restoration after Mocker's death, the restorer František Xaver Margold, the builder Karel Lustig, and the master stonemason Vítvar are present at the construction site. The opening ceremony and consecration of the cathedral took place on 28 September 1929 on the occasion of the St. Wenceslas Millennium celebrations.
