Description
The segment from the 1941 Český zvukový týdeník Aktualita (Czech Aktualita Sound Newsreel) Issue No. 48A depicts the construction of the functionalist church of St. John of Nepomuk (kostel sv. Jana Nepomuckého) on Košířské náměstí (Košířské Square) in Prague's Košíře district, designed by architect Jaroslav Čermák. Shots of the interior with atypical elements, a choir placed above the altar, and narrow slit windows. Painter Josef Liesler is working in his studio. He looks over his sketches, such as a design for a stained glass of Christ on the Cross. Sculptor Josef Vítek is working on models of sculptures for the altar and tower. We see the entirety of the church, opened to the public on 7 May 1942.
