Description
The segment from the 1933 Československý filmový týdeník (Czechoslovak Newsreel) No. 43 shows the temporary placement of a model monument to Bedřich Smetana, created by Otakar Španiel, in front of the National Theatre in Prague on 16 and 17 October 1933. Shots of a committee of members of the Society for the Construction of the Bedřich Smetana Monument standing in front of the model. Among them are literary and music historian Zdeněk Nejedlý and the Mayor of Prague Karel Baxa. A shot of the National Theatre and the monument taken from a window of Café Slavia.
