The 4th Anniversary of the Protectorate at the ND

The segment from the 1943 Český zvukový týdeník Aktualita (Czech Aktualita Sound Newsreel) No. 12 captures the events of the 4th anniversary of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia on 15 March 1943 in Prague. Acting Reich Protector Kurt Daluege and State Secretary Karl Hermann Frank welcome State President Emil Hácha at Prague Castle. Karl Hermann Frank then accepts a delegation of Czech workers and farmers at the Czernin Palace (Černínský palác). In another shot, Frank meets members of the Protectorate government Jaroslav Krejčí, Emanuel Moravec, Richard Bienert, Adolf Hrubý and Jindřich Kamenický. Following that is footage of an organised break for factory workers, as part of the celebrations, and Emanuel Moravec's speech to the workers accompanied by a symphonic orchestra. The next part shows excerpts from a production of Jaroslav Vrchlický's play �Noc na Karlštejně´ (A Night at Karlstein) at the Veveří theatre in Brno. The segment is closed off with excerpts from a performance of Bedřich Smetana's symphony Má Vlast (My Fatherland) at the National Theatre in Prague. The orchestra is conducted by Zdeněk Chalabala. The Reich Protector Kurt Daluege, the State Secretary Karl Hermann Frank, and protectorate government ministers Adolf Hrubý and Richard Bienert are present in the theatre´s loges.
