Description
The segment from the 1938 UFA žurnál (UFA Newsreel) Issue No. 158 informs about the historically valuable U Šálků house on the corner of Charles Square (Karlovo náměstí) and Resslova Street, rebuilt in the Baroque style. The house was, despite public protests, slated for demolition and later demolished in the fall of 1938. The empty plot remained undeveloped for more than sixty years. Shots of the exterior of the house, the courtyard, and the street traffic in the area. A look at the statue of St. John of Nepomuk, made in the Brokoff family workshop and later transferred to the church of St. John the Baptist at the Laundry (Kostel Jana Křtitele Na Prádle).
