Description
Unused footage from the 1944 Český zvukový týdeník Aktualita (Czech Aktualita Sound Newsreel) No. 44 shows a military drill at the National Theatre in Prague. Views of the theatre´s anti-aircraft underground shelter. A military drill takes place in the technical backstage of the theatre. Technical workers are clearing out the presidential loge and the costume room, and securing precious written archival material, including a poster from the grand opening of the National Theatre and the score of the play Prodaná nevěsta (The Bartered Bride). Julius Mařák's paintings are removed from their frames and prepared for transport. The furnishings are being loaded onto a moving van.
