Description
The segment from the 1929 weekly Deglův žurnál (Degl's Newsreel) Issue No. 28 depicts the laying of the cornerstone of the functionalist complex of the French lycée in Dejvice, which was designed by architect Jan Gillar and built in the years 1931-1934. The school complex included a lycée, a general school, a kindergarten, a pavilion with a gymnasium and a theater, a swimming pool, a kitchen, and a cafeteria. Minister Edvard Beneš and French General Louis-Eugene Faucher tap the cornerstone. French Ambassador Charles-Roux, Minister of Education Štefánek, Abbot Metoděj Jan Zavoral, Ministerial Councilor Josef Hůla, and Hanuš Jelínek were also present at the ceremony.
