Description
The unedited film footage shows the cornerstone laying and the construction of the functionalist Sokol House (Sokolovna) at Vyšehrad in 1932. Architect František Roith designed the building. Footage from the cornerstone laying ceremony on 18 July 1932. The Sokols, as well as members of the Vltavan Guild, troops, and an entourage in folk costumes, took part in the festive parade. After commemorative sheets were placed into a time capsule, a tapping of the cornerstone followed. The footage also features images of the Sokol House under construction and scenes of children exercising on a sports field.
