Description
The unedited film footage from the Deglové production company features the construction of the National Memorial on Vítkov Hill (Národní památník na Vítkově), which was built in the years 1929-1933 and designed by architect Jan Zázvorka. The functionalist building's main purpose was to commemorate the Czechoslovak legionnaires and the Czechoslovak resistance during the First World War. Vincenc Beneš, Josef Malejovský, Otakar Nejedlý, Karel Štípl, Otakar Švec, Jan Štursa, Max Švabinský, and others had worked on the exterior and interior decoration. The footage shows the first stages of construction - rock blasting and preparation of building material.
