Description
The segment from the 1942 Český zvukový týdeník Aktualita (Czech Aktualita Sound Newsreel) Issue No. 49 features research on human work performance conducted at the Department of Human Labour (Oddělení lidské práce) at the Prague Institute of Physiology. A man is lying on a bed, lifting weights, while medical tools measure his lung and heart activity. Graphs with curves corresponding to breathing and heart activity during different kinds of labour. Examples of the optimal angles for mowing with a scythe and for erecting a ladder. The medical tools analyse a sample of exhaled air. A chronaximeter measures neuromuscular irritability.
