Description
The segment from the 1941 Český zvukový týdeník Aktualita (Czech Aktualita Sound Newsreel) Issue No. 19B depicts the production of malt extract, called Sladomed in Czech. The germinated barley is dried and then brewed until it is thick. The final product is an easily digestible malt sugar. It was, at the time of the Protectorate, considered a healthy supplement to children's diets. Footage of children snacking on barley malt syrup.
